Get ready for the new school season (here's your organization secret!)

The Standard Locker in Chalk, surrounded by rainbow coloured toys.

Getting ready to go back to school can be chaotic – whether it's after a lovely summer or an all-too-quick weekend! But with the help of a trusty locker (or three), it doesn't have to be.

Take a deep breath. And maybe pour yourself a coffee. Ready? Here we go…

"Where's my hat? Where's my library bag? Where's my left shoe? Where's my other sock? No, not that one. My other, other sock? Can I have sushi for lunch? I can't find my lunchbox! I forgot to mention I need a complicated, hand-painted papier mache costume today. And I'm supposed to bring a tray of cupcakes. Also, I need a permission slip signed in purple ink. Can you remove this rotten banana from the lining of my bag?"

The morning routine can feel a bit like running a marathon (in gumboots, on ice), but with a few clever tweaks, lockers can hold the secret to a smooth getaway. Plus, they can also hold all your stuff!

Here's how we use lockers to make back to school less rush, more routine.

An Ocean Twinny is standing with the door open next to a Monstera plant. Inside you can see blue baskets stacked and blue and green clothing hanging on the rail.

get dressed with The Twinny

If getting dressed in the morning inspires tantrums or tears on the regular, The Twinny is about to be your game-changer! With two hanging rail heights (so little people can reach their own things), they make the perfect place to keep uniforms and school clothes ready to grab. With space for customizable shelves as well, you can keep all the accessories you need – think hats, jackets, and shoes – in the one place. That's at least half of those 'where are my…' questions, answered!

A Lilac Lowdown sits in a kids room styled with wooden toys and Blush soft furnishings. There is a Blush and white checkered rug on the floor.

The Lowdown on extracurricular activities

Always fishing under the couch for that hockey stick, swimming cap, pair of ballet shoes or violin case? When your family calendar is chock full of activities, take one thing off your list by stashing everything you need in a dedicated locker. The Lowdown is the perfect height for kids to reach, so they can be responsible for packing away their activities and accessories. And with its nice wide dimensions, you can store those awkwardly-shaped bits and bobs (trombone, anyone?) once and for all.

A Berry Midi has its doors open, revealing a collection of pink and white accessories inside including baskets, a backpack, toys and books. There is a pair of headphones hanging on the hook on the inside of the door.

stop, drop and Midi

The Midi makes the ideal storage for entryways, so you can tuck away all that clutter and make it easy to grab the essentials on your way out the door. Creating a drop-and-go zone at your front door makes the daily routine nice and simple. Whisk school bags, blazers, hats and all into your Midi to keep your floors clear and your life organized. When it's time to leave, they're right where you need them!

The Standard Locker in Butter surrounded by kids toys.

take a Standard

Kids clutter overtaking your space? If all their odds and ends are making your home feel more like an obstacle course, The Standard is here to help. It's a console with confidence, the perfect all-rounder to keep your life tidy and organized. With lots of storage inside, tuck all the kids stuff away on The Standard's shelves at the end of the day and close the doors for an instant room reset. Aah, much better.

A Mustard Lowdown has the words 'my craft space' spelled out in Wordbits magnets on the door. Inside is a collection of jars and baskets stocked with craft supplies including paints, sparkles, wool and beads.

don't forget to accessorize!

All Mustard Made lockers have handy hooks inside the door to keep little treasures safe. These make the ideal spot to hang keys, lanyards and other daily essentials. You can also use The Hangers to store clothes (obviously) as well as hang school bags up off the ground (no more trip hazards!)

A set of Wordbits magnets makes labeling your locker fun, and if you want to go all out with the labeling, a Cricut machine will get it done — and we've even made you a template. Since our lockers are magnetic, you can use their surfaces to stick schedules and reminders, which helps kids to visualize their routines. Never be sprung with a last-minute request again!

And who could forget The Baskets? Perfect for keeping everything nice and tidy inside your locker, use them to organize your homework and permission slips, keep craft supplies in order, or stash your library books.

We may be biased, but we think lockers might just be the key to nailing back to school.
